Refunds are handled differently depending on the cancellation policy and who cancels the booking. The cancellation policy for a listing is set in the listing wizard when a listing is created. It is also possible to have a global default cancellation policy set up in landlord settings.

How are refunds processed?
If the tenant cancels
If a tenant cancels a booking within the cancellation policy, they will receive either 100% (for flexible cancellation policies when the cancellation happens 14 days before the booking) or a 50% refund. Spacewise transactional fees (5%) will always be deducted before the refund is issued. Refunds are made out to the payment method used when booking a space.
| Duration before the booking start date | ||||
| 30 days | 14 days | 7 days | <6 days | |
| Flexible | 100% Refund (after 5% cancellation fee) | 100% Refund (after 5% cancellation fee) | 50% Refund (after 5% cancellation fee) | No refund |
| Moderate | 50% Refund (after 5% cancellation fee) | 50% Refund (after 5% cancellation fee) | No refund | No refund |
| Strict | 50% Refund (after 5% cancellation fee) | No refund | No refund | No refund |
E.g. for a $100 refund, $5 is deducted for Spacewise fees, making the total $95. Then, 50% of $95 will be refunded to the tenant.
If the landlord cancels
When a landlord cancels a booking, the tenant receives a full refund (100%), and the cancellation fee is charged to the landlord.
If Spacewise cancels
In the rare circumstance that Spacewise has to cancel a booking, the tenant receives a full refund and Spacewise carries the cancellation fee.
